Professional Development Arrange, coordinate, and conduct teacher professional development aligned with the Voluntary State Curriculum, Microsoft Certification, College Board, and industry updates. Training includes Microsoft Certification, curriculum development, and business content.
Curriculum Development Work with MBEA representatives, MD business teachers, university business faculty, industry experts, MHEC, and other professional associations to arrange, coordinate, and conduct reviews of curriculum materials across the State; assist MD high schools in the delivery of certification testing and early college credit for HS students via the CLEP; develop curriculum to support the marketing, accounting, business administration, and computing programs aligned with CLEP with input from a variety of stakeholders; and use Web resources to distribute teaching materials, templates, assessment instruments, lesson plans, and handouts developed. College Credit Using affiliate expertise in higher education compliance and program accreditation to work with the MBEA, MSDE, and MHEC with consideration placed on American Association of Colleges and Schools of Business (AACSB) requirements, on a statewide articulation agreement for the granting of college credit to students
Leadership Program affiliate staff collaborate and coordinate with MSDE,in addition to stakeholders by attending meetings, engaging in dialogue, presenting at conferences, hosting training sessions, and serving on the State BMF Advisory Council in order to increase the rigor of the curriculum, and help grow student learning opportunities within BMF Programs of Study. Additionally, affiliates are responsible for supporting and improving pre-service business education teacher education in order to prepare new business teachers entering the profession.
Information and Resource Distribution Distribute necessary updates and other timely information via Website and other distribution methods to constituents regarding new opportunities and resources as well as updates to programs and/or initiatives at the State or Federal level that are relevant to business education in Maryland. Additionally, the MSDE BMF Program Affiliate will collaborate on a learning object repository that will serve as a searchable database of learning resources for BMF teachers
